Eiffel Tower detail – Paris, July 2006
It has been called “the tragic lamppost” and a “grande suppositaire“. It was designed and built in 15 months and stnds twice as tall as the Washington Memorial and the Great Pyramid of Cheops. It featured in a Duran Duran music video and a James Bond movie. I have stood at its pinnacle and its foot more than once, and admired it by both sunlight and moonlight. And this weekend I plan to take a few more photos of it, because I find you can never have too many.
This is part of a series of non-food photographs that will be published every Saturday on CookSister – previously featured photographs can be viewed on the Saturday Snapshots compendium pages. Photos featured in Saturday Snapshots are available to buy as high-quality greeting cards or prints in my RedBubble store, or even as gorgeous A3-size2011 CookSister calendars for foodies, for London-lovers, Italophiles or beach lovers.
If you want a custom calendar with your own selection of photos, starting in a month other than January, please e-mail me and we can discuss your requirements. They make great gifts, for friends or for yourself.

Photos of the Eiffel Tower are so common, but Jeanne you have taken one of the most stunning I have seen. There is something beautiful and moody about it. It’s funny but I have rarely visited it, only a couple of times, but now you make me want to go.

Thanks all for your lovely comments! I must have taken hundreds of pictures of the tower over the years, starting in 1983 on my first visit!
