Or maybe you are looking to up your styling game to get into selling stock food photography? Or maybe you just want to learn to photograph food like a pro at home and in restaurants? Then this one’s for you.
I am thrilled to announce that I am once again teaming up with photographer and food blogger Meeta Khurana-Wolff to present a 2-day intensive, hands-on food styling and photography workshop. Last year we took you to Venice and this year our location is no less spectacular: Vienna, one of Europe’s most beautiful and iconic cities, filled with history, architecture, art and its famous coffee house culture.
Together with our local host Monika Kogler (herself an alumna of the Venice course), we have put together an exceptional programme for our participants which will give them the opportunity to learn (both from us and each other), shoot, socialise, eat and of course shop in the heart of this extraordinary city. We have also arranged one night’s accommodation a the stylish Arthotel Ana Adlon, a stone’s throw from Vienna’s famous Prater park.
On Day 1, we will be in a fantastic studio and kitchen where we will not only work on the theory of food photography, hands-on exercises and assignments, but Monika will also be spoiling us with a menu of typical homemade Viennese dishes. The studio with its many large windows has tons of natural light and provides us with the ideal venue for photography exercises and lessons, and the state of the art equipped kitchen allows us to enjoy convivial meals together.
Day 2 will be a more active one as we take you to Vienna’s famous Naschmarkt food market and adjacent vintage market for you to gather material for your photography assignments (and prop cupboards – it’s a vintage treasure trove!). Before we give you some time to work on your final assignment, we will also visit a Viennese coffee house which will will offer yet another photo opportunity for you to practise your restaurant photography.
It is important for us that the participants who visit our workshops enjoy a holistic and multi-faceted experience , so while we plan to work intensively on honing your skills in the food photography area, we have also tailored the 2 days in such a way so that there will be plenty of sightseeing too, giving you a feel for Vienna. We hope to provide you with essential information about understanding and getting the best out of your camera; challenging exercises covering the basic and advanced food styling and photography techniques; as well as hands-on intensive assignments, individual guidance and critique from the instructors. There will be sessions on photography/camera theory; natural lighting; detailed presentations on styling, creating moods, props, post-processing and saving your images; as well as a special focus on low-light photography, giving you tips and ideas of how to master your camera in low-light situations such as restaurants.

Restaurant shoot for the main photography assignment. - Intensive group work on main photography assignment

Please note: The workshop is limited to only 10 participants and works on a first-come-first-serve basis. Presentations and main workshop language will be in English (instructors & host speak English and German) and is aimed towards beginners, novice and advanced level participants.
