Rocket – July 2013
Dear Cooksister readers
I’m sorry if things have been a little more quiet than usual in the recipe department here this week, so I have a confession to make. It’s not Cooksister’s fault, it’s MY fault! You see, last Saturday was not a good day for me. The family I was living with seemed to have got tired of me and dumped me at the stables to fend for myself. Of course, I have no idea how to do that as I’m only little, so instead I was chasing after every human I could see, calling out to them and hoping they would take me home, feed me and love me. But they all seemed angry at me and pushed me away. I was beginning to feel scared, lonely and really hungry when some nice man picked me up, cuddled me and then handed me to a nice lady who took me home, cuddled me some more and fed me. Then I slept on her lap all afternoon and that night I had a nice warm, dry kitchen to sleep in with plenty of food. And you know the best thing? Even though the nice man and the nice lady shut the door and go away every day, they always come back, they never forget to feed me, and they give me lots of cuddles and toys. For a while they called me Ozzie, but a couple of days ago they started calling me Rocket, because I came from the allotments where rocket grows and a shoot around the house like a rocket. They spent so much time deciding on my name… if I could talk I would tell them that they can call me whatever makes them happy – the only words I really pay attention to is “foodies! foodies!”
Of course, I do my best to help out around the house – I stalk and catch insects, I warm laps, I fetch my toys so mom and dad can throw them for me, I tap my paws on the computer keyboard just like mom does, and I give unlimited cuddles – I feel it’s the least I can do. But I do realise that I have distracted mom from her blog this week, so I must apologise to all her readers for that – but I can’t help it that I was just born irresistibly cute.
