Klein Hangklip – near Cape Town, March 2013
As you drive from Cape Town towards Hermanus, you coulod take the direct route via the double lane N2 freeway, which runs a little bit away from the coast and then turn off when you reach the Hermanus off-ramp. But if you have a little more time, take the coastal road that meanders from Somerset West all along the False Bay coast to Hermanus, hugging the spectacular Kogelberg range of mountains just metres from the sea. One of the villages you will pass through is the tiny settlement of Rooiels (Red Alder) which sits nestled comfotrably between the cobalt blue of the Indian Ocean and the granite mass of Klein Hangklip (“Small Hanging Rock”).
