Tulips – Keukenhof gardens, May 2010
Keukenhof Gardens near Lisse in the Netherlands was opened in 1949 and is the world’s largest flower garden, covering 32 acres. Each year staff plant 7 million flower bulbs by hand and this culminates in a spectacular display of crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths and tulips in the Spring. The park is only open to the public for only two months per year (mid-March to mid-May) and is visited by thousands of people each day. Over 43 million people have visited Keukenhof since it opened and one of them, earlier this month, was me.
