Lloyds Building – London August 2009
The Lloyds Building is an iconic piece of London architecture, also known as the “Inside-Out Building”. It was designed by architect Richard Rogers and built between 1978 and 1986. Rogers was also co-designer of the Pompidou Centre in Paris and both buildings share the same innovative idea of having its services such as staircases, lifts, electrical power conduits and water pipes on the outside, leaving an uncluttered space inside. This together with the building’s metal cladding makes for an intriguing appearance and a myriad of futuristic photo opportunities – like this one.
