Does my Blog Look Good in This July 2009 – the winners!

Can somebody please explain to me how it got to be August withoug my noticing?  Did we skip a few weeks at the end of July or what??  And if it’s August, that means I am a teensy bit late with announcing the winners of this month’s Does My Blog Look Good in This, the monthly food photography event managed by my friend Andrew of SpittoonExtra. But better late than never, as they say!

This month we had 43 entries from food bloggers around the globe – if you haven’t yet, please check out the full complement of entries in the online gallery.  Our wonderful judges (Bron of Bron Marshall, Ilva of Lucullian Delights, Juno of Scrumptious Blog, Andrew of SpittoonExtra and, of course, me) had their work cut out for them scoring these photos in the following three categories:  edibility, originality and aesthetics).  But now all the scores have been counted and so, without further ado, I present you with… the July 2009 winners!

Overall first place (this being the picture that scored the highest total combined score across all three categories and all five judges) goes to:

Saffron & cardamom pannacotta by Sandra of Le Petrin, taken with a Canon EOS 350D

Overall second place goes to:

Klepon (sticky rice with coconut topping and palm sugar filling) by Ema of My Explorations, taken with a Canon EOS 450D

Overall third place is a tie between:

Lemon Balm and Verbena Mojito by Shari of Whisk: a food blog, taken with a Nikon D80.

Noodle on the bowls by Vania Samperuru of My Family Favourite Recipes, taken with a Canon 50D

Winner in the Edibility category (the entry with the highest total edibility score from all the judges) is:

Saffron & cardamom pannacotta by Sandra of Le Petrin, taken with a Canon EOS 350D

Winner in the Originality category (the entry with the highest total originality score from all the judges is:

Berry stain flag by Megan Fizell of Feasting on Art, taken with a Canon 5D MkII

Winner in the Aesthetics category (the entry with the hightest total aesthetics score from all the judges) is:

Saffron & cardamom pannacotta by Sandra of Le Petrin, taken with a Canon EOS 350D

And just because it sums up the essence of summer, my very own special Host Award goes to:

Strawberries in Cointreau Syrup by Pille of Nami-Nami, taken with a Canon EOS and 100mm macro lens.

That’s it for this month – congratulations to all our worthy winners!  As for next month, Andrew has let me know that he has had a sum total of ZERO volunteers to host – and the dismal picture is the same for the rest of the year.  Seeing as there are only 24 hours in a day and Andrew does in fact have a day job, he is unable to take over hosting duties on a permanent basis, so unless he gets some volunteers, DMBLGiT may have to be shelved 🙁  So pretty please, if you enjoy DMBLGiT please do consider volunteering to host and help to keep the event alive – it’s not THAT difficult and there is a lot of support and detailed instructions available 🙂
