A postcard from London – Book 9 of 1000 Recipes reporting!

Dear Santos and all at the 1000 Recipes project

Well, after my long trip in, frankly, a rather small and cramped brown envelope all the way from Guam, I have arrived safely on the doorstep of Cooksister here in London!  And I have to say that the weather leaves something to be desired – as an tropical island kind of book, I’m used to better!  Still, Cooksister has been a charming hostess and has taken very good care of me during my 2-week stay.  In fact, I’ve been having such a good time that I though you might like to see some of my holiday snaps, so here goes.

During the week, Cooksister had to go to work and I was left to my own devices. However, I met a host of interesting books on her bookshelf – above is a pic of me with one of the most charming and informative 😉 Over the weekends, though, Cooksister would tuck me into her backpack and take me sightseeing all over the place.  It was all a wonderful adventure, from my first trip on the Tube, to the art at the Tate Modern, to the splendour of St Pauls, the magic of the London Eye, hearing Big Ben chime and a spot of shopping at Canary Wharf  – what a day!

And you know what else??  Last weekend Cooksister even hosted a lunch in my honour!  She invited a bunch of her friends over and we had stuffed roast pork belly with roasted vegetables and a sticky toffee pudding – and I was the guest of honour!  I’ll have to have a word and ask her to write a post about it.  In the meanwhile, here’s a pic of me being the centre of attention at the lunch table 🙂

Sadly, all good things must come to an end and this week I will be winging my way to the US and on to Alison at Something So Clever.  But I’ll carry with me some of Cooksister’s recipes for the project.  And of course my memories of my holiday in London.

Best wishes to all the participants (both the books and the writers!)
